I've been writing about virtue a lot for philosophy. It's making me a better person just thinking about virtue all the time. Chastity in particular.
I'm not a great writer. My philosophical writing is too flowery. My storytelling writing is too surreal. The tangential kind of surreal, not the expert grounded post-modern humanist collage kind like Dillard. Making a point for me often feels like an amateur pilot trying to land on a narrow landing strip; I'll just fly around in circles until I'm comfortable enough to say it straight.
Yet, a part of me wants to keep writing about virtue and make it more accessible to others. Living virtuously is not some antiquated idea so far removed from each individual. Practicing and living out virtue is a lot like--and I'm not kidding--playing video games for an avid gamer.
Say more? I can't. I need to use the restroom and head to Good Friday mass.
